Hi All

Recently bought a laptop with Vista Business. The DVD drive was working fine till a day ago. (HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T1ON ATA DEVICE). The error code that pops up is Code 39. I have tried to unistall the device but with no luck.

Is there another way to fix this issue

Also more for my knowledge, what causes this issue

Thanks

See the last statement in this post. It's most likely a lower/upper filter problem. If that doesn't solve the issue then you might want to contact the main support line since this is a developers forum :-)

I also have the dreaded Error Code 39 disease with no working optical drives. I uninstalled and installed a new version of software with DVD writing capability and the drives disappeared. I have tried the filters deletion without success. I had no upper filters and deleted the lower, but didn't get better. Any other ideas
Thanks in advance.

Re: Vista Business Error Code 39

robfosertter

i have discovered a way to edit the registry,

it is a upper and lower limit problem

here it goes;

close allprograms

start>regedit>ok

click plus signs next to the following;

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

currentcontrolset

control

class

{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002 BE10318}

THEN LOOK FOR ANY OF THESE ENTRIES IN THE LIST;

UPPERFILTERS

LOWERFILTERS

UPPERFILTERS.bak

LOWERFILTERS.bak

IF YOU SEE ANY OF THESE DELETE THEM BY RIGHT CLICKING AND DELETE

CLOSE AND REBOOT

HOPEFULLY THIS WILL SORT YOUR PROBLEM OUT

THIS ERROR HAPPENED FOR ME AFTER UNINSTALLING NORTON SYSTEMWORKS OR EASY CD CREATOR
